Apple’s iPhone 18 hype season has begun

More news, more speculation, this time concerning the future of the iPhone 18 series. Much of this may have been heard before, but speculation like this tends to become more substantial over time. So, what’s the new set of claims?
- Apple is going to split iPhone releases across two seasons, with the base iPhone 18 scheduled for spring 2027 and the Pro series scheduled for fall this year.
- Apple’s first foldable iPhone will also appear this fall.
- It seems like the current Dynamic Island will stick around for a while, as the 18 series won’t have a smaller version.
- The iPhone 18 series may get more RAM, up from 8GB to 12GB in the base model. That makes sense given Apple is thought to be offering to open its platform up to third party AI models to run on device.
- The A20 processor will (as expected) be a 2nm chip, likely about 15% faster than the A19 and needing around 30% less power. The latter suggests either thinner devices, foldables, or much better battery life, depending how Apple plays it.
- Camera Control will become a pressure-based button, which will help stop those accidental swipes.
- You’ll get the C2 5G modem, which will be at least as good and potentially better than anything from Qualcomm.
- The spring launch may also see an iPhone Air 2, or an iPhone 18 Plus.
We have 12 more months of iPhone 18 speculation to come, so it will be interesting to see how Apple keeps those rumors interesting.
