MacPaw to ship unique on-device AI for Macs
MacPaw and Liquid AI are partnering to develop an on-device AI for Macs, initially for use within MacPaw’s AI assistant, Eney, with the potential for future expansion to other products and developers.
The collaboration aims to create a new local AI architecture for the Mac, prioritising data privacy, speed, and offline functionality.
Liquid AI’s models already bring on-device intelligence to companies like Mercedes-Benz, Insilico Medicine, and Shopify.
The collaboration combines Liquid Foundation Models (LFMs) – which will be designed specifically for macOS AI assistance with MacPaw’s own on-device inference and memory technologies, Elix and Mnemos. MacPaw’s Eneyassistant for macOS will be the first solution to use the tech when it ships later this year.

By combining MacPaw’s engineering expertise with Liquid AI’s model efficiency, we are building the AI stack for the Mac, one where your personal data stays on device and the heavy lifting happens wherever it makes the most sense.”
How this might work
The idea is that the partnership will bring Eney’s intelligence on-device, with Liquid AI building foundation models so the AI works locally through Elix on Apple silicon, with cloud models available for complex tasks.
The partners also intend to build on Mnemos, MacPaw’s memory layer, which lets the assistant retain context across interactions and become more useful over time.

Once deployed in Eney, the same technologies could eventually be made globally available to thousands of Mac developers through Setapp, MacPaw’s unified software marketplace.
