Kuo confirms massive MacBook Neo demand

Apple is on track to manufacture and sell ten million MacBook Neo units pretty soon, with the first five million already sold, it seems.
The latest post from analyst Ming-Chi Kuo confirms claims made earlier this month Apple had doubled its orders for these incredibly popular new Macs. “Sunny has become a new Apple CCM [camera module] supplier, producing the MacBook Neo CCM. MacBook Neo shipments have come in better than expected, with the 2026 shipment forecast raised from 5 million to 10 million units,” he wrote. (Italics mine).
He also reveals a few other interesting details, specifically that Sunny Optical has secured a place in the iPhone supply chain for camera modules, continues to make components for current and future iPhones, and has also secured orders from OpenAI.
That’s all pretty interesting if you happen to be a tech investor, but for most people it should be seen as positive proof as to the incredible popularity of the MacBook Neo, which continues to be a top-selling laptop on Amazon.
The move to introduce a Mac at $599 has opened the floodgates to lots of users, not just individuals, but also large enterprises and educational institutions are placing orders.
Systems integrator Brilyant has built dedicated bulk procurement pipelines explicitly for the MacBook Neo, they say they are seeing the devices in use across all fomd of enterprise, while Fleet launched a dedicated enterprise onboarding platform to handle multi-thousand unit Neo rollouts.
In education, UK company Servnet and SchoolCare have opened up procurement pipelines specially for the product.
All of this activity reflects real adoption, with the most famous recent case being the decision by Kansas City Public Schools in the US to replace existing devices with 30,000 MacBook Neos. I’ve said it before and may yet say it again – MacBook Neo is the iPod moment for the Mac.
