How Can Apple Make iPads More Unique?

Jonny Evans

Watching Apple since 1999. I don't say what they should do. I say what they might do. They sometimes do.

Ipad Pro needs to be a laptop replacement otherwise it is just a tablet. Multiple window support and mouse support for precise data entry/character selection. Basically everything a low-end touchscreen laptop can do a pro tablet should to justify the “pro” tablet’s steep price tag.

Can you tell me why Apple stubbornly refuses to make a product like Surface Book? Is it Job’s heritage?

I’m not sure that you can say they don’t. What has Surface Book really got to offer an iPad Pro w Pencil and Keyboard doesn’t match? Other than hype?

I mean, it runs windows. Who would?

I used to use my iPad a lot. Then I got a MacBook and and iPhone 7. Now I never use the iPad and I have an iPad Air. The MacBook is the same size but comes with a great keyboard (seriously) and trackpad, and provides a great file system plus real drag and drop of files into open program windows, etc. Trying to multi-task on an iPad is pure hell. The iPad’s split screen is a pain in the ascii to use. Maybe if all you worked with was text, you could get by on an iPad. I can’t, it’s just to hampered and limited. If Macs are trucks then iPads are skateboards. There needs to be something more powerful with file management, multi-tasking, etc., equal to what you can do on Mac before it can replace the Mac. I’ll say it again. iPads are just skateboards, not cars. Some people can get to work or school on a skateboard. Most people can’t. And that is why the iPad and other tablets are going nowhere. Most people need a car, not a skateboard.
