Google needs Apple so much more than you (probably) realise…

Watching Apple since 1999. I don't say what they should do. I say what they might do. They sometimes do.

This is very true Jonny. In fact, 75% of Google’s Search revenue comes from Apple users according to Goldman Sachs and Retail ads on iPhones generate 1,790 percent more return on investment than ads on Android. Even worse, advertising on Android actually costs more than it returns according to Nanigans.

“It’s not just that Android monetizes worse than iOS — it actually offers negative return on investment. In other words, while advertising on iOS brings retailers 162 percent more cash than they spend on the ads, advertising on Android returns 10 percent less than the cost of the ads.”

What is particularly worrying about this for Google is how Apple continues to marginalise Google on iOS with:

    – Apple Maps replacing Google Maps
    – Siri searches replacing web search pages
    – Safari locking down ad-tracking
    etc

…Google’s cash-cow continues to become harder and harder to exploit, while their own in-house platform Android continues to fail to deliver to anything like the same degree.
