IDC expects Apple’s first folding iPhone will take 29.4% of foldable shipments this year, climbing to 34.9% in 2027, “making it the largest foldable brand within the first 12 months of entering the category,” IDC analyst Francisco Jeronimo said.

Rising memory costs prompted China’s smartphone market to decline 2% YoY in Q2 2026 as Android makers prioritized profitability over growth. Bucking the trend, Apple shipments grew 23%. IDC recently confirmed the same pattern.
