Apple’s VP Apple Pay retires after 12 years
Apple’s Vice President of Internet Services and Apple Pay, Jennifer Bailey, is retiring after 12-year leading and building the service, Bloomberg reports.
Apple helped create payments on iPhone
Bailey led the work on Apple Wallet, Apple Pay, and Apple Card. She’s also the VP in charge of Tap to Pay on iPhone, Apple Gift Cards, and Apple Cash. She sat on the American Red Cross board from 2015 through 2024 and remains on the board at PepsiCo.
Announcing the news, Apple’s Eddy Cue praised her huge effort, adding, “On a personal note, Jennifer has been an incredible friend and leader, and I will miss working with her.”
The company will announce its succession plan before the end of October and Bailey will continue to support that transition as an advisor.
“As we continue to work toward our vision of replacing the physical wallet, I’m more confident than ever in the work that we are all doing and look forward to an exciting future ahead,” said Cue.
Designing products to improve lives
“We’re trying to create new services for customers for really our install base that makes their lives better. That improves what they’re doing, that gives them more enjoyment. And so that’s how we think about it. We design products that improve people’s lives with our technology. And that’s really the focus of the services business,” said Bailey in an interesting 2019 interview.
