Hot on the heels of similar info from IDC, yet more data shows Mac sales are exceeding the industry average, information which once again suggests millions of Windows users may now be switching to the Mac.
That’s not going to surprise anyone, given that hundreds of millions of Windows users must now quit Windows 10 and will surely be more willing to switch to the Mac than before.
Apple is growing its market
Counterpoint tells us the direction of things. It says that while the forced Windows 11 switch has injected growth into the PC market, Apple’s sales are expanding faster. Where the PC market saw global shipments climb 8.1% in Q3 25. Apple experienced 14.9% increase. That’s still good health to PC makers across the industry, of course, but for Apple it equates to record Windows switchers.
Associate Director at Counterpoint, David Naranjo said, “The PC market’s rebound in 2025 is not just about replacing outdated systems, it is about preparing for what is next. Many enterprises are choosing AI-capable PCs to future-proof their fleets, even if they do not yet need those capabilities immediately. The next refresh cycle will be defined by intelligence at the edge, not just performance improvements.”
I’m not one to shout it from the rooftops, of course, but everything from Apple’s powerful processor to its approach to AI tells us that right now the most powerful AI PC you can get is a Mac. It even runs Windows.
At the same time, Counterpoint doesn’t really expect AI PCs to spur demand until after 2026, which is presumably when Appe’s competitors catch up.
Apple, meanwhile, sells AI capable PCs today, and is seeing its own market share inch up one quarter at a time. I see no reason for that to stop.
Additional highlights from Counterpoint
- Apple’s shipments jumped 14.9% YoY in Q3 2025 thanks to popular new MacBook models and enterprise adoption.
- Lenovo maintained its market leadership, with shipments rising 17.4% YoY in Q3 2025, the highest annual growth among the top six vendors.
- HP solidified its second position with a 10.3% YoY rise in shipments to underscore strong commercial sector penetration.
- Dell remains resilient but saw a slight dip in annual performance. Its shipments saw a marginal 0.9% YoY decline, despite a 2.7% QoQ gain, reflecting more cautious enterprise buying in its core segments.
- Asus recorded the most explosive QoQ growth, surging by an impressive 22.5% while also achieving 14.1% YoY growth driven by solid consumer notebook demand.
Together, these top five vendors captured nearly three-quarters of the global PC market, underscoring continued consolidation at the high end. Smaller OEMs, by contrast, saw flat or declining volumes.
