The Core: Apple TLDR (WWDC, June 8)

Apologies for the late arrival of this edition. Apple’s outgoing CEO Tim Cook opened WWDC26 to compere his final Worldwide Developers Conference keynote, closing a chapter during which he transformed Apple into one of the world’s most valuable companies.
“Getting the best products in the world to deliver experiences that enrich people’s lives has always been our North Star. It’s been the honour of a lifetime to help advance that mission,” he said. His successor, John Ternus, was not featured during the presentation.
Today’s news has all revolved around WWDC.

Craig Federighi explains the Google Gemini collaboration
Apple insists it is not just using a white label version of Gemini for its new AI features. “The amount of the Google Assistant we use is none,” Federighi explained – and even in those cases in which an advanced request is shared with Nvidia GPU’s in Google’s cloud it continues to be protected by Apple’s Private Cloud Compute.
