iPhone sales grow in Europe and China
The European smartphone market grew by 2% year-over-year in the first quarter of 2026, with 33 million units being shipped, according to Omdia. Samsung shipped 12.6 million units, but Apple’s iPhone came second, growing 9% to 8.8 million units. In China, fresh data from the CAICT also signals steady demand for iPhone.
Amazon to take Apple’s 20% stake in Globalstar
Amazon will take Apple’s billion-dollar 20% stake in satellite services provider, Globalstar, but says it will continue to support iPhones. In related news, Apple is thought to be developing a powerful new iPhone modem for even more resilient satellite connections.
Trouble at the silicon mill
Apple supplier TSMC Chairman and CEO CC Wei is facing backlash from employees over a change to the company’s compensation schedule, which reduces the amount paid out each quarter. This decision, coupled with Wei’s own substantial compensation package, has led to discontent among staff who feel undervalued despite their contributions to the company’s success.
Apple hit record high
Following a big target price boost from Bank of America on strength of Apple’s long-term AI strategy, Apple’s stock has hit a series of record highs in the last 24 hours.

Apple has been forced to publish an official support document to explain the logo differences between the parallel versions of its apps (like Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro, and Pixelmator Pro) sold as one-time purchases versus those bundled under the Apple Creator Studio subscription.
Software updates
Apple is preparing to ship iOS 26.5.1, a minor maintenance and security update this week. It has also released its first OS 26.6 betas for its platforms.

Apple has updated US trade-in prices, increasing the value of some devices, including last-generation iPhones, iPads, Macs, and Apple Watches.
