Reuters: Eligible China users can connect Qwen to Apple Intelligence on Mac
The tide is turning for Apple Intelligence in China, Reuters reports, with Apple quietly telling Chinese Mac users that they can connect Alibaba’s Qwen AI service to Apple Intelligence.

Apple has published a guide to help eligible users connect Qwen to its AI service, when they do they will be gain access to more detailed Qwen-driven responses to some queries. This support comes in the form of an extension users must install. They also need to have a Qwen account.
China’s cyberspace regulator said Apple Intelligence was registered for use in China last month. At that time, Alibaba told Reuters that its Qwen AI will be integrated into Apple Intelligence experiences across Apple’s platforms, bringing the nascent service in line with China’s strict internet regulation.
