iPhone repair is cheaper than Samsung?

This probably won’t go down terribly well, but it rather looks as if it costs you more to run a Samsung smartphone than an iPhone, according to Insuranceopedia.
On average, iPhone repairs are cheaper
The insurance comparison website analyzed the repair costs for both iPhone and Samsung phones when both are covered by the relevant insurance warranty (Samsung Care+ v AppleCare+).
Based on publicly available AppleCare+ and Samsung Care+ repair and replacement fees, they found that on average Samsung users will pay $60 more for each repair.
The thing is, these repair costs are also higher on Samsung’s higher-end devices, which top out at c.$1,800 per smartphone, which means the actual TCO of an iPhone may ultimately be a little cheaper, once repair and initial purchase costs are considered.
They pointed out that while Apple charges fixed fees for repairs, Samsung’s fees differ depending on the device and type of repair. Of course, paying for repairs for any model smartphone is always a shock we’d all rather avoid.
The stars are shifting
“But this gap is much more than just about repair costs, because Samsung’s user loyalty and market share are both falling,” the report said, citing Statista.
“Last month, Samsung held 15.1% of the Asian smartphone market, 6% less than the iPhone and 2% below its market share last March. Samsung’s market share in Europe has dropped by roughly 4 percentage points over this period to 30.2%, compared to Apple’s 40.1% share,” they said.
With component prices preparing to go through the roof, could this be a moment of danger for Apple’s smartphone frenemy?
