iPhone 16e leads the US pre-paid market

Apple is seeing a lot of success with iPhone 16e across US prepaid smartphone markets, claims this month’s Wave7 Research report.
While it has been dropped by Verizon and T-Mobile, it has become the leading model for prepaid with strong offers from vendors including Metro, Boost, Cricket, and Total. The iPhone 17e is getting modest attention from prepaid carriers.
What Wave7 says
“The iPhone 16e is the main workhorse for prepaid this summer. There are currently “on us” offers for the iPhone 16e from Metro and Boost, while Cricket has it at $79.99 with port-in. Straight Talk through 10/18 has an offer that provides the iPhone 16e at $199 with in-store activation of the device on an unlimited plan,” said Wave7.

The latest report also confirms that older iPhones are generating less interest than before, accounting for just 3-5% of sales across the three main carriers, even while availability declines.
“Verizon stores visited since June have often had display models only for the four iPhone 17 variants, plus the iPhone 17e and the iPhone 16,” the report said.
iPhone dominates US
As every stat shows, iPhones continue to generate good business, accounting for around 70% of sales at AT&T, and just under that at Verizon and T-Mobile. The iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max versions continue to be top sellers, the report explained.
One more thing in this swift glance at the iPhone-led US smartphone market is that Apple store signage is pitching activations with Verizon, T-Mobile, and AT&T, as before, but Boost has been removed from the signs.
