How to take a screenshot on iPhone X

A regular question, answered

It’s easy — just tap the Side button and one other button at the same time…

Apple’s all-new, record-setting iPhone X introduces a whole bunch of new gesture controls, which I explained here and here. However, one query that keeps cropping up is how to take a screenshot on iPhone X. The good news – it’s just as easy as ever.

Here’s how it is done:

How to take a screenshot on iPhone X

When the screen image you want to capture is on the screen, follow these two steps:

  • Press and hold the Side button (that’s what Apple calls the button on the right side of the iPhone).
  • While pressing and holding the Side button you should also press the Volume Up button.

The screen will flash. You may hear the camera shutter sound.

And that’s it – you now have a screenshot you can annotate and cut to shape using the markup tools built inside of iOS. You can then easily share the image using the Share pane.

Watching Apple since 1999. I don't say what they should do. I say what they might do. They sometimes do.
