Apple tempts retired VP, Laura Legros, to support new CEO
Apple has tempted its former vice president of hardware engineering, Laura Legros, out of retirement to serve on incoming CEO, John Ternus’ management team.
Who is Laura Legros?
You may recall her as the exec who introduced the very last Intel MacBook Air back in October 2018, which had been redesigned and given features like Retina display and Touch ID which were all amplified once the M1 processor appeared.
She also introduced the fourth-generation iPad Air in 2020, before retiring from Apple in 2022, once the Apple Silicon transition was complete.
If you search for additional information you’ll find nothing much at all, suggesting she keeps her information very private indeed.
Bloomberg says “Legros helped manage product delivery, development schedules and coordination across engineering teams to ensure they remained aligned”, and before she retired “she was one of Ternus’ most trusted deputies”.
Building out the talent team
If you think about it, she will have been managing the entire transition to Apple Silicon, which required suppliers across three continents to make changes in their work.
She joins Apple as it seeks to leapfrog competitors to new process designs while extending its product family during a component and logistics crisis, so will need every ounce of her management muscle.
She will become a Vice President working across the company’s hardware divisions and reporting direct to Ternus.
