Apple is taking a swing at US Open streaming rights

Apple TV has joined the battle to win the US streaming rights to the Open Championship, according to the Guardian.
A report claims the company had preliminary discussions with the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews (R&A) concerning the matter. The current streaming deal with NBC is scheduled to expire in 2028.
Apple won’t really win the chance to make its putt until next year when formal tendering for the streaming rights begins. It won’t be alone when it makes its swing, as Netflix and Amazon will also likely make a bid
NBC has held these rights since 2017 but now appears in danger. NBC’s Open rights are shared with media company Versant, which operates the Golf Channel.
A source told the Guardian that Apple “remains committed to investing in sports rights, and will continue to search for the right properties.”
