Apple confirms: September 9 iPhone launch event

The predictions turned out to be true. Apple will hold its next special event on September 9, starting at 10am PT.

We’d anticipated the data as the preceding Monday is a day off in the US and Apple likes to squeeze one working day before it holds a launch.

This year’s event is given the tag line “Surprise and shine”, its a blue image with an illuminated Apple icon visible, which doesn’t really tell us very much.

What’s expected? Well, the new iPhone 18 Pro range and the first ever folding iPhone is also anticipated.

All three new iPhones will use Apple’s latest 2nm A20 Pro chip, which will make for significant performance improvements, though prices are expected to increase in contrast to the current models.

The foldable iPhone will have a book-like design, measuring c.5.5-inches closed and 7.6-inches when open. It will be very think, which means it will use Touch ID rather than FaceID and lack a telephoto camera.
