Shhh: It looks like new Apple hardware is imminent

Nice monitor setup you have there…
Apple may be getting ready to release a new external monitor, according to regulatory filings in China revealed by MacRumors.
What goes well with a new display?
The thing is, on previous form, Apple usually introduces us to new displays at the same time as it also gives us first glance at brand new Macs.
The Chinese listing talks about a high performance display, though it isn’t clear if this is a brand-new system or merely a modified version of something that already exists.
What gives the claim a little more substance is that we’ve been hearing speculation Apple plans a new display for months. If this filing reflects that, then the new monitor could host its own A19 chip and offer both ProMotion and HDR support.
Hot on the heels of Apple’s introduction of the first M5 14-inch Macs (already the best laptops money can buy) we recently learned that M4 Max based MacBook Pro models are seeing massive delivery delays.
And no one is even talking about Mac Studio, which hasn’t seen an update in a while…
Apple makes the best computers in the world
Ars Technica thinks this suggests new Macs are on the way, potentially including M5 Pro and M5 Max models of MacBook Pro. That speculation is really gathering wind beneath its wings as Apple is also preparing to introduce something really, really big next week in the form of Apple’s amazing Creator Studio collection.
That collection is aimed at pro users and is priced in such a way as to bring Apple’s really high-end, industry-standard, creative tools (Logic and Final Cut) at an affordable price to a much wider audience than ever before.
And what do pro users need to run pro apps? The best possible Macs and the best available displays, of course.
Could this mean Apple intends introducing hardware as soon as next week?
I don’t think it’s wise to speculate too much on that, the company does like to control the narrative (though Bloomberg seems to ignore that), and the time may not be right.
But the evidence is piling up that Apple is preparing to push new Macs into the world perhaps even this side of its next fiscal call on Jan 29.
And we have many, many more new Apple products to look forward to this year.

This rumor fits Apple’s usual pattern of pairing new displays with Mac updates. A high-performance monitor with its own chip, ProMotion, and HDR would make sense, especially alongside shifting Mac lineups. The silence around Mac Studio also makes this timing feel deliberate rather than coincidental.
