Apple Store online goes dark as new iPhones imminent #AppleEvent
Apple is shuttering its online stores globally as it prepares to introduce new iPhones. The company has also updated the graphic on its website front page, which now reads ‘fast approaching’, which may be a hint at some of its plans.
Updates are coming
We know what’s coming, of course:
- iPhone 12, four models (including mini) with 5G, but without superfast displays.
- HomePod mini
- Apple TV refresh
- And more…
The first iPhone 12 devices are expected to be made available to order from October 16 to ship one week later on a staggered release schedule with the grand final in November.
Apple will announce the new devices at an event streamed from Apple Park (and likely already available on super-secret hard drives about to be plugged into the company’s top secret server farms) later on October 13.
You can watch the event using information here, but to save you the click, here’s the information you need:
How to watch the Apple event
- Apple’s events website will let you watch the live stream using any standards-compliant browser on any device, including Mac and iOS devices. You can add the event to your calendar using a link on that website.
- Apple’s TV app now integrates what was once the Apple Events app we once used to watch these events. When the event takes place the TV app (available on multiple devices) will give prominence to the event and let you stream the show.
- Apple will also stream the event on YouTube, which you’ll be able to access from a huge host of devices, including games consoles and televisions. You can access the page here, with the placeholder video below.
