What’s coming to Gemini Intelligence? (And will Apple bring it, too?)

Apple is working with Google on new Apple Intelligence features. Google this week announced its own new AI features, introducing these as Gemini Intelligence. Might these new features reflect some of what to expect from Apple? If so, it’s worth knowing what Gogle has made available.
Coming in Android 17, Gemini Intelligence focused on agentic AI and its rollout is seen as a pre-emptive strike against what Apple has planned in iOS 27 et al. What follows is a short rundown of those new features.
App Automation
Gemini can “see” what’s on your screen and take action. For example, it can scan a grocery list in your Notes app and automatically build a shopping cart in a delivery app (e.g., DoorDash or Expedia). This is the kind of contextual savvy we hope for from Apple.
Create My Widget
Users can build home screen widgets using natural language which I see as kind of what could happen when a chatbot meets Apple’s Shortcuts app.
Rambler
Google is upgrading its dictation engine to better ignore filler words and self-corrections to make for better transcripts. Apple is apparently planning similar intelligence in auto correct.
Nano Banana
Like Apple has Image Playground, Gemini has Nano Banana (stupid name). Both get upgraded this year.
Visual Layout
Instead of text, Gemini generates interactive modules (like a 3D travel itinerary) or custom-coded UIs on the fly to answer complex prompts. iOS 27 may introduce something similar in the form of results cards that look like iMessage chats with embedded interactive data.
Gemini Personal Intelligence
A Personal Assistant AI that connects Gemini to your private Gmail, Photos, and Calendar data (opt-in only) to help you get things done. This seems a pretty strong competitor to Apple’s anticipated personal context awareness tools.
Reports also suggest Apple will launch a standalone Siri app with a full chat history and a partnership with Google Gemini (ironically) to handle complex web-based queries that Siri cannot solve locally.
