What we think we know about Apple’s next new iPhones
Everyone now expects Apple to divide the introduction of the iPhone 18 series of smartphones into two events, with new Pro and the foldable “Ultra” devices set to appear first this fall, subsequently followed by other models in spring. What can we expect from the new Pro and Ultra devices? Here’s what we think we know.

iPhone 18 Pro, Pro Max, plus Apple’s first foldable device (rumored name “iPhone Ultra”), and possibly an iPhone Air 2 launch in the fall of 2026. These devices are expected to see introduction in the second week of September. The standard iPhone 18 and iPhone 18e models debut in spring 2027.
What about price?
We expect price to increase by around $300 across the line, in part reflecting higher processor prices, but also a big jump in memory costs along with the anticipated impact of foreign exchange currency fluctuations and challenging logistics. That means the iPhone Ultra will cost around $2,000 while the base system may hit $899 once it ships next year.
What about design?
- Pro/Pro Max: same general design as the iPhone 17 Pro models, with a triple-lens rear camera and large camera plateau.
- New A20 Pro chip (2nm) paired with an in-house 5G modem for better performance/efficiency.
- LTPO+ displays, similar sizes to the 17 series (~6.27″ Pro, ~6.86″ Pro Max).
- Possible punch-hole front camera, moving Face ID under the display.
- Storage up to 2TB on Pro Max,
Charging speeds staying around 40W. - iPhone Fold: titanium casing, ~4.5mm thin unfolded/~9mm closed, usable outer display, Touch ID via side button instead of Face ID due to its thinness.
- Powered, of course, by iOS 27.
