Adobe Firefly AI can make dogs fly on iPhone

Yes, the above image was generated using Firefly.
Love it or not, Generative AI has arrived, it will be used and is a technology that is going to become as much a part of everyday life as email or the worldwide web, so it makes sense to take a look at Adobe’s latest GenAI introduction, a Firefly app for iOS and Android devices. You can use the app to generate and edit images and videos from anywhere using artificial intelligence.
Unleashing ideas, maybe
The Firefly app can create assets in a range of formats and make use of AI models from a range of providers, Adobe explained. These include Adobe’s own GenAI models, but also OpenAI’s image generation and Google’s Imagen 3 and 4 and Veo 2 and 3.
Ely Greenfield, Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer:
“Our goal with Firefly is to deliver creators the most comprehensive destination on web and mobile to access the best generative models from across the industry, in a single integrated experience from ideation to generation and editing.”
What does it do?
It’s a super-smart tool, so you can use reference images to help build your desired picture or video or generate images in the style of another. It’s also possible to edit assets by expanding images and using a brush to remove objects or paint in new ones with Generative Expand, Generative Remove and Generative Fill, experiment with different variations of their creation by mixing and matching models and transform generated images into a video – all without leaving Firefly.
Using the app, you can also build a 3D scene with Scene to Image (beta), generate fully editable vector-based artwork and design templates with simple text prompts and create text effects. The company is on the cusp of adding new features, including avatar generation and sound effects.
Syncing while you’re thinking
Anything generated using the Firefly mobile app will automatically sync to the user’s Creative Cloud account, making it easier to continue working on the web or in Adobe’s desktop apps.
If there is one caveat it is that some of the tools included in the app require users spend money on tokens for the task. Adobe has also rolled out new video capabilities to the public beta of its whiteboard platform, Firefly Boards.
The Adobe Firefly app is available as a standalone experience and as part of Creative Cloud, delivering seamless workflows with Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, Adobe Express and more
