Why Apple must extend Apple Care warranty protection

Jonny Evans

Watching Apple since 1999. I don't say what they should do. I say what they might do. They sometimes do.

Why would they repair am Apple Watch v.1? Waste of money. Apple care is not the issue.

I would say its more an issue of fessing up when they have a parts failure. The MacBook Pro keyboard mess as well as the ribbon cable failures with the displays. It shouldn’t take class action suits to make them bend into fixing these things.

I would like to Apple offer a basic AppleCare warrenty on major model changes. For the first year the product was offered. So in the case of the 2016 MacBook Pro’s most of them would have been covered! The 2017 model should have had the better keyboard the 2018 model had Apple was slow in responding to the failures with a 5 year basic warranty. That way Apple takes care of the trend setters being the first in buying a new product offering.

As far as offering a longer AppleCare+ contract to 5 years. I would hope Apple offers that too for products that don’t have a basic warranty. So following my example the 2017 and 2018 MacBook Pro models.

While I have not had a keyboard problem with any of my MB Pros, I also believe that if you purchase AppleCare, while you are eligible, they why not offer the customer to purchase either another AppleCare plan or to purchase an extension before the current AppleCare plan expires. With Apple product life being so much longer than WinTel products, it makes the decision to move to Apple much stronger.
