Watching Apple since 1999. I don't say what they should do. I say what they might do. They sometimes do.

Stream the latest audio codecs such as Dolby Atmos, DTS-X, etc.. My 4k tv upscales 1080P to near 4k so that’s not as big a deal as the latest surround is. I would though purchase 4k content if available.

It needs HDMI in! Currently, you have to hook your Apple TV to an aux in and switch to it when you want to see something on it. With HDMI in and out, you can now put it in-line between your cable box and TV. Normally it just passes the cable content through, but, when you want to AirPlay something from your phone/pad/mac to the TV, you just do it and it takes over, no fiddling with the TV. Or you can ask the Siri remote to find some show, and it can take over. It also allows Apple TV to overlay stuff on the cable video, sports scores, stocks, news weather, twitter, or whatever. HDMI in!

The new TV is a good start, but the midel of DirecTV’s Guide works best for my brain.
The problem with the TV app is it won’t tell me I need to get xxx app to watch whatever I’m interested in. It works only on content i already have or already subscribe to.
