How much will Siri on macOS Sierra cost Google?

Jonny Evans

Watching Apple since 1999. I don't say what they should do. I say what they might do. They sometimes do.

How am I going to use Siri on my Mac? Not at all. There’s already far too much yammering in workplaces, homes, airport lounges, hotel lobbies…

That you call it “yammering” makes me think you’re about my age, which is around 50. You may not be fifty, so please don’t be offended if you are not — it is not meant in any negative way. But there is a difference between what people who were young before mobile phones and those who grew up with them feel about talking privately in public. However, I think it was Mary Meeker who noted/predicted that Siri on a Mac is more likely to be used at home or in transit than at work because of noise and privacy. I think this will change. All the same, hanging onto my argument in this piece, I do think that the majority of active responses to ads takes place at home rather than work, so i think Google is a B2C ads sales company, with a software front end

It’s not going to cost Google/Alphabet anything. Wall Street says the company’s growth is untouchable by any other company, especially Apple, so it must be true. Apple is too weak to go after Google because it usually ends up where Apple gets its butt kicked. Google has paid off the important people to protect it and Apple has no protection at all. Even worse, there are lots of people hoping Apple is removed from its top market cap perch. Apple simply doesn’t have the leverage to harm Google or they would have been able to crush Android long ago.
